The Société La Française was a French manufacturer of motor vehicles .
Company history
The Hammond, Mouter et Cie company , later renamed Société La Française , was founded in Paris in 1889 to manufacture bicycles. Motorcycles followed later. In 1901 the production of automobiles began . Automobile production initially ended in 1906. The brand name of the automobiles was mostly Diamant , rarely La Française . Automobiles were built again between 1912 and 1913, this time being marketed as Hammond Mouter . The motorcycle production ran under the brand name La Française-Diamant until 1956 .
Automobiles
Initially there were the 5 CV and 7 CV models with single-cylinder engines , 9 CV with two-cylinder engines and 12 CV , which had a two- or four-cylinder engine depending on the source . In 1904 the 24 CV with four-cylinder engine was added.
The automobiles from the period from 1912 to 1913 are called Voiturettes in the literature . Four-cylinder engines powered the vehicles. The choice was between engines with 1,888 cc displacement and with 2474 cc capacity. These engines indicate mid-range cars.
