March 26th : Premiere of the operetta Die Zirkusprinzessin by Emmerich Kálmán in the Theater an der Wien in Vienna.

April 24 : The operetta Adrienne by Walter Wilhelm Goetze with the libretto by Günther Bibo and Alexander Pordes-Milo based on the comedy Adrienne Lecouvreur by Eugène Scribe and Ernest Legouvé has its world premiere in Hamburg .

April 25 : The opera Turandot by Giacomo Puccini based on the play of the same name by Carlo Gozzi is premiered at the Teatro alla Scala di Milano in Milan. The opera was only completed after the death of Puccini by Franco Alfano based on the composer's sketches.

April 28 : The world premiere of the opera Kováč Wieland ( Wieland the Blacksmith ) by Ján Levoslav Bella takes place in Bratislava.

May 7th : The world premiere of the opera Les Malheurs d'Orphée by Darius Milhaud takes place at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels.

September 25 : World premiere of the operetta Lady Hamilton by Eduard Künneke at the Schauspielhaus Breslau

November 8th : The world premiere of the musical Oh, Kay! by George Gershwin takes place at the Imperial Theater in New York.

November 9 : The premiere of Paul Hindemith's opera Cardillac takes place at the Dresden State Opera under the musical direction of Fritz Busch . The opera with the libretto by Ferdinand Lion based on the novella Das Fräulein von Scuderi by ETA Hoffmann with Robert Burg in the leading role is panned by criticism.

November 27 : The dance pantomime The Wonderful Mandarin by Béla Bartók is premiered in Cologne . Because of alleged immorality, the mayor of Cologne, Konrad Adenauer, has further performances prohibited.

December 8 : World premiere of Charles Wakefield Cadman's opera A Witch of Salem in Chicago.

December 14 : Premiere of the opera Der Golem by Eugen d'Albert in Frankfurt.

December 23 : World premiere of the operetta Nur Du by Walter Kollo in Berlin.
