The Palms National Park (English: The Palms National Park ) is a national park in the southeast of the Australian state of Queensland . It is 95 kilometers west-northwest of Brisbane and 30 kilometers south of Nanango .
The national parks of Tarong , Pidna and Mount Binga are in the vicinity .
Flora and fauna
The small national park is known for its spring valley full of Piccabeen palms ( Archontophoenix cunnighamiana ) fig trees New Guinea araucarias and Queensland araucarias can also be seen frequently there. The piccabeen palms are surrounded by a ring of subtropical and dry rainforest , which then merges into eucalyptus forest higher up .
Numerous species of birds also live in this park.
Facilities and access
Camping in the park is not permitted. There are several picnic areas and a hiking trail, The Palms Circuit (650 m).
The Palms National Park is accessible from the New England Highway ( Cooyar exit ). From there a narrow, paved road leads 8 kilometers northeast to the park.
