Moderation

Billy Crystal hosted the Academy Awards for the fourth year in a row. The presenters of the candidates are listed below for the respective categories.

Summary

Clint Eastwood's Western Merciless won four Academy Awards , making it the most successful film of the evening. After Dances with Wolves by and with Kevin Costner from 1990 , Merciless was the second western in the early 90s that was honored with the Oscar trophy as best film .

Bram Stoker's Dracula by director Francis Ford Coppola was able to win three Oscars. The film Aladdin was also doubly successful by receiving the two music Oscars. After Al Pacino for his performance in The Godfather and The Godfather - Part II was only nominated, he succeeded this time, for Scent of a Woman as best actor to win an Oscar.

Adolfo Aristarain's A Place in this World was originally nominated as a contribution by Uruguay in the category Best Foreign Language Film, but was subsequently removed from the nomination list as an invalid entry because the film was produced in Argentina.
