The Wuthara Island National Park (English: Wuthara Island National Park ) is a national park in the northeast of the Australian state of Queensland . The park was formerly called Forbes Islands National Park .
location
It is located 1,962 kilometers northwest of Brisbane and approximately 40 kilometers northeast of Iron Range National Park and Lockhart River off Cape Weymouth in the Coral Sea .
In the neighborhood are the national parks Mitirinchi Island , Piper Islands , Ma'alpiku Island and Sir Charles Hardy Group .
National nature
The park consists of three islands that are located on the continental shelf of Australia. Rocky slopes and capes rise from small, sheltered bays. The islands are surrounded by coral reefs .

The islands are covered with low myrtle heather and grass.
Various water and other birds can be found on the islands.
Facilities and access
Wild camping is permitted on the main island, but there are no special facilities. However, no more than 10 people are allowed to camp there at the same time.
The national park is only accessible by private boats from the port in Lockhart River . Lockhart River, in turn, is connected to the Peninsula Developmental Road and Telegraph Road in the west via a 107-kilometer cul-de-sac (dirt track) .
