The Kurrimine Beach National Park (English Kurrimine Beach National Park ) is an approximately 9.1 square kilometer national park in Queensland , Australia . Since 1988 it has been listed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site Wet Tropics of Queensland because of its natural beauty, biodiversity , evolutionary history and as a habitat for numerous endangered animal species . It is also part of the Coastal Wet Tropics Important Bird Area . The park protects one of the few areas with pristine, coastal rainforest .

The park is located in the North Queensland region , approximately 30 kilometers south of Innisfail and 180 kilometers northwest of Townsville . Coming from the Bruce Highway , the park can be reached via the turnoff to Kurrimine Beach . From here you can get to the Kurrimine Beach Conservation Area via Jacobs Road . The national park connects to it in the north, but has neither public access nor visitor facilities.

The Barnard Island Group , Maria Creek , Clump Mountain and Basilisk Range national parks are in the vicinity .

use

The area was originally densely forested, today only a few spots with original vegetation can be found in the park. The rest was cleared for agriculture and settlement.
