The Mercedes 24/100/140 PS is a luxury vehicle from Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (DMG), Stuttgart-Untertürkheim. After Paul Daimler left , the new DMG chief designer Ferdinand Porsche developed the car from April 1923 , which was produced from 1924 to 1929.
At the same time as this model, the slightly smaller six-cylinder Mercedes 15/70/100 hp was created , which only differed in engine and wheelbase.
In 1926 the model was renamed the Mercedes-Benz Type 630 .
Mercedes 24/100/140 hp (1924-1926)
The car was available from the factory as a chassis, six-seat touring car, six-seat Pullman sedan, six-seat coupe-sedan, six-seat Pullman convertible, Landaulet and Cabriolet D (with four doors).
Its six-cylinder in-line engine with an overhead camshaft ( OHC ) driven by a vertical shaft has a displacement of 6240 cm³ , develops 100 hp (74 kW) in suction mode and 140 hp (103 kW) with the connectable Roots blower (compressor).
The rear wheels, which are attached to a rigid axle and suspended from semi-elliptical leaf springs , are driven via a four-speed gearbox . The front axle is also rigid and hangs on semi-elliptical leaf springs. The trolley is equipped with cable brakes for all four wheels.
The cars reach 115 to 120 km / h depending on the rear axle ratio.
Mercedes-Benz Type 630 (1926–1929)
After Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft with Benz & Cie. merged to form Daimler-Benz AG , the unchanged Mercedes 24/100/140 PS was renamed the Mercedes-Benz Type 630 .
The rear axle suspension was changed from cantilever leaf springs to underslung springs in 1927 . From 1928, the cable brakes received suction air assistance to boost the brake force.
Mercedes-Benz Type 630 with K engine (1928–1929)
Also from 1928 the type 630 was available for 2000 RM surcharge (approx. 8% of the total price) with the K-engine described above.

Mercedes-Benz Model K (24/100/140 PS, 1926–1928)
The Mercedes-Benz Model K with the same engine and a shortened chassis (3400 mm instead of 3750 mm wheelbase) appeared parallel to the 630 model . It was available as a four-door sports four-seater or a two-door roadster. On the right-hand engine cover, the car had three metal hoses that led to the outside to discharge the exhaust gases. This detail was to become typical of the Mercedes-Benz compressor cars that followed.
The top speed of the sports car is 145 km / h.
Mercedes-Benz Model K (24/110/160 PS, 1928–1929)
From 1928 the K model was equipped with a more powerful engine. With the same displacement, it develops 110 hp (81 kW) in naturally aspirated mode and 160 hp (118 kW) with a compressor. The driving performance did not change.
In 1930 the sedans were replaced by the 770 , the sports cars by the SS and SSK models .
