Team captains

All captains of the first men's team since 1945:

Trainer

The table lists all of the Hamburger SV coaches. Events include successes that fall during the term of office of the respective coach. - Note on the flag at AW Turner: It is not certain whether he was really a (naturalized) Englishman. Later entries in the commercial register show that his full name was Albert Wilhelm , perhaps Germanized from William , Turner.

Further, fundamental note: Not all of the people named were employed full-time trainers. In the period before and until 1945, the office was exercised on a voluntary basis in a number of cases by board or gaming committee members. That applies at least to Agte (1919/20 himself still a player), Moß and Lütkenhaus, probably also Mattheides and at times Turner. - The engagement of Hochgesangs was announced in 1934, but did not materialize.
