Laval is a French municipality with 984 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Rhône-Alpes ). Laval is part of the Arrondissement of Grenoble and the canton of Le Moyen Grésivaudan (until 2015 Domène ). The inhabitants call themselves Lavalois .

Laval is located about 17 kilometers east-northeast of Grenoble in a valley of the Grésivaudan . Laval is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Froges in the north and north-west, Les Adrets in the north, La Ferrière in the east and north-east, Allemond in the south-east, Sainte-Agnès in the south and west and Villard-Bonnot in the west and north-west.
