This list of Roman Catholic Bishops in France contains the names of the living bishops of the Roman Catholic Church dioceses in France , whether they are active or retired, and whether or not they are French.
The names of the French cardinals, including those who are not bishops, are in bold on the list.
The mention of Emeritus Bishop indicates that the Pope has officially accepted the resignation of a bishop, usually after the respective bishop has exceeded the age limit of 75 years prescribed by canon law , sometimes from others, e.g. B. for health reasons.
With the exception of the five overseas bishops of Taiohae o Tefenuaenata , Wallis and Futuna Islands , Nouméa , Papeete and Saint-Denis de La Réunion , the 101 other bishops are members of the French Bishops' Conference .
