Vaire is a French municipality with 810 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the canton of Besançon-5 in the arrondissement of Besançon . It was created with effect from June 1, 2016 as Commune nouvelle through the merger of the previous municipalities of Vaire-le-Petit and Vaire-Arcier . Neighboring communities are Novillars in the northwest, Amagney in the north, Deluz in the northeast, Osse in the east, Nancray in the southeast,Gennes in the south, Chalèze in the southwest and Roche-lez-Beaupré in the west.
