Rives (also: Rives-sur-Fure ) is a French municipality with 6476 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The municipality is located in the Arrondissement of Grenoble and is the main town ( chef-lieu ) of the canton of Tullins . The inhabitants are called Rivois .

geography

Rives is on the River Fure . Rives is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Apprieu and Saint-Blaise-du-Buis in the north, Réaumont in the northeast, Charnècles in the east, Renage in the south, Beaucroissant in the southwest and Colombe in the northwest.

The Autoroute A48 ( E 711 ) and the former Route nationale 85 ( Route Napoleon , today Départementstraße 1085) run through the municipality .

history

Since the 12th century iron and steel processing has been one of the main economic branches of the municipality. The paper and wallpaper industry has been added since the 16th century.
