Ajax Motors Company was an American automobile manufacturer from Racine, Wisconsin .

Nash Motors Company founded the company to manufacture vehicles for the low-price segment. In early 1924, the huge factory of the former Mitchell Motors Company was bought for this purpose . The chief engineer was Earl G. Gunn . Production began in 1925. The brand name was Ajax . Production ended in 1926. A total of 22,122 vehicles were produced, while the corresponding Nash vehicles had higher sales figures.

The construction of the Ajax was based on the larger contemporary Nash models Special Six and Advanced Six .

The vehicle had a chassis with a 2743 mm wheelbase. The six-cylinder in - line engine with SV valve control , 76.2 mm bore , 101.6 mm stroke and 2779 cm³ displacement had been newly developed and was a novelty in this class. It made 40 bhp (29 kW) at 2400 rpm. The Ajax shared a single-disc dry clutch and three-speed transmission (with center shift) with the larger Nash models, as did rear-wheel drive. The brakes were operated mechanically; also for the first time in the middle class, they worked on all four wheels.

The vehicles were supplied in two different versions: a four-door touring car at US $ 865 and a four-door sedan at US $ 995.

The successor was the Nash Light Six , which resulted in the Nash Standard Six in 1928 .
