The J.League Division 1 2010 was the eighteenth season of the highest division of the Japanese J.League and the twelfth under the name Division 1 . Eighteen clubs took part in it. The season started on March 6th and ended on December 4th, 2010; no games were played between May 16 and July 14 due to the 2010 World Cup .
The championship was won by Nagoya Grampus , for the team from Aichi Prefecture it was the first Japanese championship. For the AFC Champions League 2011 , the second Gamba Osaka , the third Cerezo Osaka and the winner of the Imperial Cup , Kashima Antlers, placed next to Nagoya . Direct relegated to Division 2 2011 were sixteenth FC Tokyo , seventeenth Kyōto Sanga and bottom of the table Shonan Bellmare .
mode
As in the previous season , the clubs faced each other twice in a double round tournament , once at home and once away. There were three points for a win; in the case of a draw, each team received one point. The final table was therefore created according to the following criteria:
- Number of points scored
- Goal difference
- Goals scored
- Results of the games among themselves
- Decision game or coin toss
The club with the best result at the end of the season won the Japanese championship. The best three teams qualified for the AFC Champions League 2011. Should one of these teams also win the 2010 Kaiser Cup, the fourth-placed team moved up. The three worst teams were relegated to the J.League Division 2 in 2011 .
Attendees
A total of eighteen teams took part in the season. Here, the three worst teams of the preseason left the league in the direction of Division 2 2010 ; The prefecture of Chiba was particularly affected, with the sixteenth Kashiwa Reysol (after three years in the league) and bottom of the table and J.League founding member JEF United Ichihara Chiba , both resident clubs had to relegate. In addition to the Chiba teams, Ōita Trinita also "caught" , who was referred back to the House of Commons after seven years in Division 1.
The three promoted players from J.League Division 2 2009 have all played in Division 1 in previous seasons. Master Vegalta Sendai returned to the highest Japanese league for the second time after six years in the lower house, while runner-up Cerezo Osaka rose after three years of division 2 for the third time, third-placed Shonan Bellmare had to wait ten years for his second promotion.
