additional
Four pairs of brothers took part in the final round:

Only England only used players from the domestic leagues. In contrast, the squad for Ireland, Iceland, Northern Ireland and Wales only includes players who play in foreign leagues. The following table summarizes the number of players playing in foreign leagues and the domestic league (highlighted in green) before the European Championship (as of June 1, 2016).
Five teams (Albania, Ireland, Iceland, Austria and Hungary) were coached by foreign coaches.
Two coaches each came from Germany, Italy, Northern Ireland and Sweden. Switzerland coach Vladimir Petković and Croatian coach Ante Čačić were born in the former Yugoslavia , the coaches of Russia and Ukraine in the former Soviet Union .
Only four countries competed with the same head coach as in 2012: Germany with Joachim Löw , England with Roy Hodgson , Sweden with Erik Hamrén and Spain with Vicente del Bosque . Turkey had already participated with Fatih Terim in 1996 and 2008 , but did not qualify in 2012. Anghel Iordănescu had already trained the Romanians at the 1996 European Championship.
Lars Lagerbäck participated in 2008 with Sweden (2000 and 2004 together with Tommy Söderberg ) and now as an Icelandic coach. Fernando Santos participated with Greece in 2012. You are the fourth and fifth coach to have participated with two different teams.
The oldest coach was Roy Hodgson , who was 68 years and 323 days old at the last England game.
The youngest coach was Leonid Sluzki , who was 45 years and 38 days old when the Russians played their first game.
Most of the final round matches as coach before the start of the European Championship: Joachim Löw (11, before the European Championship record together with Berti Vogts ), now 17 (as of July 7, 2016)
The two yellow cards that lead to a dismissal in a game ( yellow-red card ) are not listed individually, as they already result in their own suspension.
* Upon reaching the semi-finals, individual yellow cards lost their basis for a ban - they were "deleted".
The overall table is sorted according to the round reached and according to the rules for determining the four best third group . Games that have been decided on penalties will be counted as a tie. Slovakia took 14th place ahead of the Republic of Ireland due to the lower number of FairPlay points.
UEFA does not maintain an official overall table. The table can be sorted manually according to the various criteria.
The most experienced referee is Hungarian Viktor Kassai , who had already led 40 international matches before the European Championship, four of which were at the 2010 World Cup and two at the 2012 European Championship
The most inexperienced referee is the Frenchman Clément Turpin , who led only nine international matches before the European Championship and is also the youngest referee (34 years and 29 days on June 14).
The oldest referee is the Spaniard Carlos Velasco Carballo , who was 45 years and 87 days old on June 11th
Others
With the exception of Switzerland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Slovakia, Ireland and Iceland, all participants in the round of 16 were at least third-placed in previous European or World Cups.
All European and world champions from previous tournaments qualified for the round of 16 were in the same half of the final round tree at the beginning of the final round due to their group placements in the preliminary round . This means that it was already clear after the group stage that one of the finalists would never have been European champions before the final. One of the cases has therefore occurred whose probability is deliberately reduced by the lottery pot procedure in the group assignment of the teams: that football heavyweights meet early on.
Impact on the FIFA World Ranking
Eleven teams each improved and deteriorated in the ranking. The two best-placed teams held their positions but lost points to world number leader Argentina , who finished second at the Copa América Centenario during the same period . In addition, Copa winner Chile , which is still in 5th place, was able to make up a few points on Belgium and Germany. While Poland dropped their best placement, Iceland got their best placement to date and Wales added the most points of all 210 teams listed. The best European non-EM participants are the Dutch in 26th place, but they lost 12 places. The worst placed EM participant is after the EM Sweden in 40th place, before the EM it was Albania in 42nd place.
