European Handball Championship 2014 / squad

16 teams took part in the 11th Men's Handball European Championship , which was held in Denmark from January 12th to 26th, 2014 . Each team was allowed to register 16 players. After the regular season, up to two players per team could be substituted. In this article the roster lists of the participating nations are presented.

Denmark

Team boss Ulrik Wilbek

The Danish national team played in the preliminary round in Group A against Macedonia (29:21), Austria (33:29) and the Czech Republic (33:29). She was group winners ahead of Macedonia and Austria and advanced to the main round in Group I , where she met Spain (31:28), Hungary (28:24) and Iceland (32:23). This made them group winners ahead of Spain and Iceland, qualifying them for the semifinals where they met Croatia . With the 29:27 win, the Danes moved into the final against France , where Denmark had to admit defeat 32:41 and finished second in the 2014 European Championship.

The French national team played in the preliminary round in Group C against Russia (35:28), Poland (28:27) and Serbia (31:28). She was group winners ahead of Poland and Russia and rose to the main round in Group II , where she met Croatia (27:25), Belarus (39:30) and Sweden (28:30). This made them group winners ahead of Croatia and Poland, qualifying them for the semi- finals where they met Spain . With the 30:27 win, the French moved into the final against Denmark , where they beat Denmark 41:32 and won the European title in 2014.

Iceland

She was second in the group behind Spain and ahead of Poland and rose to the main round in Group I , where she met Austria (33:27), Macedonia (29:27) and Denmark (23:32). The Croatian national team played in the preliminary round in Group D against Belarus (33:22), Montenegro (27:22) and Sweden (25:24). She was group winners ahead of Sweden and Belarus and rose to the main round in Group II , where she met France (25:27), Russia (33:25) and Poland (31:28). This put Croatia in second place behind France and ahead of Poland and qualified for the semifinals , in which they lost to Denmark 27:29. After the Croatians had to admit defeat in the game for third place against Spain 28:29, they only ended up in fourth place.
