The list of well-known Byzantinists includes people who have completed their habilitation in this subject, are relevant as authors or have made other significant contributions to Byzantine Studies. Byzantinists are generally concerned with the Middle Greek language and Byzantine literature, as well as the history, but also the art and archeology of the Byzantine Empire . Close relations exist to Biblical , Classical , Near Eastern and Provincial Roman Archeology , the Classics and Modern Greek Studies , for Ancient History , Egyptology , Islamic Studies , History of the Middle Ages and to epigraphy , Papyrology , numismatics , diplomacy and Christian archeology , which often with early Christian art works employed.
