Punk Goes… is a series of compilations released by Fearless Records in which various punk rock bands cover songs from other genres or decades . After the introductory Punk Goes there is the respective genre. The series started in 2000 with the title Punk Goes Metal , which was released on August 1st. Punk Goes Pop , the second part of the series, was continued a total of six times. Some of the albums made it onto the US Billboard 200 . The most successful was Punk Goes Pop 2, which reached number 15. So far, 18 different compilations have been published.

The albums Punk Goes Acoustic and Punk Goes Acoustic 2 deviate from this scheme. In these albums, the respective bands play acoustic versions of their own songs.

Punk Goes Crunk

Punk Goes Crunk was released on April 8, 2008. Contrary to the name, it is not a compilation that only contained crunk songs, but hip-hop hits from the 90s and 2000s were re-set to music. The only number that could be remotely related to crunk is Put Yo Hood Up by Lil Jon . Punk Goes Crunk is widely considered to be the worst part of the franchise.

Punk Goes Pop Volume Two

Punk Goes Pop Volume II was released in March 2009 and was the most successful part to date. In its first week, the album sold 21,000 copies in the United States, reaching number 15 on the Billboard 200. Originally a release was planned for February, but Chiodo's cover for Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger could not be recorded until later, making it a month Delay gave. In return , the pre-orderers received a free version of the first Punk Goes Pop part.

For the first time in the history of the sampler, a song was covered twice. ... Baby One More Time by Britney Spears was already covered on the first part of Punk Goes Pop , back then by Nicotine.

The twelfth edition was published on November 21, 2011. For the first time, three singles were released. Just the Way You Are by Pierce the Veil and Last Friday Night (TGIF) by Woe, Is Me were released on October 18, 2011 and November 8, 2011, respectively, before the actual album was released. 2012 followed as the third single from the album Rolling in the Deep by Go Radio .

Punk Goes Pop Volume 5

Punk Goes Pop Volume 5 was released on November 6, 2012 and sold more than 21,000 copies in the first week. It reached number 16 on the Billboard 200 and was the second most successful release in the series. The second single Somebody That I Used to Know by Mayday Parade was very successful and has been downloaded 15,000 times. This placed the Gotye cover as number 13 of the alternative digital songs. The 14th edition was published on November 5, 2013. It stands out from the canon, as it is primarily a Christmas album , with most of the songs previously unreleased, but originating from the artists themselves. Punk Goes Pop Vol. 7

After a year and a half break, the seventh part of the Punk Goes Pop series was released on July 14, 2017 . To That's What I Like by Dance Gavin Dance (originally performed by Bruno Mars ) and The-Amity Affliction version of Can not Feel My Face (originally by The Weeknd ) Videos were filmed. These were published on June 1 and June 22, 2017 via YouTube . Both songs were also used as a single release.

A performance by several artists from the album under the name Punk Goes Pop Live! Scheduled as part of the 2017 Alternative Press Music Awards .
