List of the historical deaneries of the diocese of Eichstätt

This list shows the historical deaneries of the Eichstätt diocese .

In the sections that describe the 16th century, both Catholic and Protestant parishes and charities are listed. The assignment is difficult due to the frequent change of denomination.

Sections 1835 list the deaneries at that time.

Sections 1840 are based on the decree of December 12, 1840. King Ludwig I reorganized the deaneries at the request of Karl August von Reisach , Bishop of Eichstätt.

In 2011 the previous dean's office, consisting of five parishes, was dissolved and added to the dean's office in Nuremberg-South . It ended up with 14,746 Catholics.

The deanery was first established in 1840.

The Eichstätt deanery was first established in 1840. The eponymous Eichstätt is not part of the Dean's office.

2011

In 2011, the previous dean's office, consisting of 31 parishes, was dissolved and the dean's offices in Gaimersheim and Beilngries were added to it. Before the reform of the deanery, it had 28,315 Catholics.

Deanery Ellingen

The deanery was first established in 1840.

The parishes belonged to the Ellingen , Festg. Command. and L. Weißenburg, to the district court of Greding and Heidenheim

In 1940 there was a deanery in Ellingen.

Deanery Gaimersheim

2011

In 2011 the previous dean's office, consisting of nine parishes, was dissolved and added to the dean of Eichstätt . It ended up with 21,539 Catholics.

The Gredinger deanery did not exist in the 16th century.

During the reform of the deanery in 2011, the deanery, which consisted of 18 parishes, was not dissolved and at that time had 60,032 Catholics.

This deanery was first established in 1840.

The parishes belonged to the district courts of Kastel , Sulzbach and Hersbruck .

In 1940 there was a dean's office in Kastl.

2011

In 2011 the dean's office, which had previously consisted of ten parishes, was dissolved and assigned to the dean Habsberg . It ended up with 11,795 Catholics.

Deanery Kipfenberg

The deanery did not exist in the 16th century.

In 2011 the previous dean's office, consisting of 30 parishes, was dissolved and the dean's office in Berching was added to it. It ended up with 55,521 Catholics.

Deanery Nuremberg-South

2011

In 2011 the previous dean's office, which consisted of 17 parishes, was dissolved and the Altdorf dean's office was added to it. In the end it had 46,135 Catholics.

Deanery Ober- or Stadt- Eschenbach

This deanery existed in the 16th century.

The decant Ornbau did not exist in the 16th century.

In 2011, the previous dean's office, consisting of 13 parishes, was dissolved and added to the dean's office in Roth-Schwabach . It ended up with 41,512 Catholics.

This deanery was first established in 1840.

The parishes belonged to the entrance. Commiss. u. L. Heilsbrunn, the regional courts of Pleinfeld , Gunzenhausen , Schwabach and Heilsbrunn .

Deanery Velburg

The Velburg deanery was first established in 1840.

This deanery only existed in the 16th century.

In 2011, the previous dean's office, consisting of 18 parishes, was dissolved and added to the Weißenburg-Wemding dean's office . It ended up with 26,578 Catholics.
