Grammy Awards 2011
On February 13, 2011, in Staples Center of Los Angeles , the Grammy Awards 2011 awarded. It was the 53rd Grammy , the most important US music award. In early 2011, the musical achievements that were released between September 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010 were recognized.
108 awards are given in 30 areas. The nominees were announced on December 1, 2010. The US country band Lady Antebellum achieved the most successful results with five prizes and was able to triumph in the general categories of Best Song and Best Single . The other prizes were widely distributed: Lady Gaga , Jay-Z , the Black Keys and John Legend & the Roots were each awarded three times. Favorite Eminem with ten nominations ended up only receiving two rap Grammys.
Big surprises were the Canadian band Arcade Fire with the album of the year The Suburbs and the jazz singer Esperanza Spalding as newcomer of the year, who prevailed as outsiders against well-known competition.
The German Symphony Orchestra Berlin and the Rundfunkchor Berlin were honored for their joint recording of L'amour de loin under the baton of the American conductor Kent Nagano .
