The federal highway 238 (abbreviation: B 238 ) is a German federal highway in the border area of Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia in the districts of Schaumburg and Lippe . It leads from Steinbergen in the former Principality of Schaumburg-Lippe (today a district of Rinteln) on the B 83 via Rinteln , where it crosses the Weser , and Lemgo to Detmold on the B 239 .

Today's federal highway 238 connects the former Principality of Schaumburg-Lippe with the former Principality of Lippe via the former Kurhessian area .
In the Electorate of Hesse , to which the former county of Schaumburg with the district town of Rinteln belonged, the street that was classified as second-class main street in 1831 was called Lemgoer Straße .
