The German federal highway 487 (abbreviation: B 487 ) runs through northern Hesse in the Kassel area . It begins south of Melsungen (district Melsungen, at the junction to federal highway 83 ) and leads to Hessisch Lichtenau .

The federal highway 487 begins at the federal highway 83 at the industrial area Pfieffewiesen , in which u. a. the Edeka Hessenring and the medical device manufacturer global B. Braun are based. It then runs along the Pfieffe river through Adelshausen , crosses under the Pfieffetal bridge and then reaches the area of the city of Spangenberg in Mörshausen . After Schnellrode , the border between the Schwalm-Eder and Werra-Meißner districts is passed. The district of Retterode becomes the area of the cityReached Hessisch Lichtenau . In Hessisch Lichtenau the B487 ends when the federal highway reaches 7 .

Bundesstraße 487 was set up in the mid / late 1960s. A better development of the then zone border area with federal roads may have played a role here.
