history

The street was numbered 60 when the number was first assigned to trunk roads in 1932 and was designated as Reichsstraße 60 from 1934 and as Bundesstraße 60 from 1949 . It led from Duisburg via Oberhausen , Essen , Velbert , Wuppertal-Vohwinkel and Solingen to Remscheid - Lennep . This section of the route was later replaced by federal highways 231 , 224 and 229 . Mid-1980s, the remaining section has been west of Duisburg because of the parallel A 40 for country road rededicated L 140th
