Manesse Library of World Literature

The Manesse Library of World Literature is a German-language book series created by Walther Meier (1898–1982) and published by Manesse Verlag with works from world literature . The publishing house was originally located in Zurich and the series formed its flagship . Today Manesse belongs to the Random House publishing group based in Munich . The volumes in the series, which has been published since 1944, are for the most part luxuriously furnished with fine linen, gold embossing, thin printing paper, thread stitching and bookmarks . The volumes are each provided with an afterword by an author, literary critic or contemporary literary scholar . The series contains many anthologies grouped together on a wide variety of topics . The series, which appears irregularly in loose succession, now comprises over seven hundred volumes. The following volume overview is sorted by year of publication:
