The German federal highway 488 (abbreviation: B 488) was a federal highway in Hesse . With a length of 16.0 kilometers, it was one of the shorter federal highways and led from Butzbach in the Wetterau district to Lich in the Gießen district .
The federal highway 488 had existed since the mid / late 1960s . It was set up for better traffic development in the area between Gießen and Frankfurt am Main . As of January 1, 2016, the full length of federal highway 488 was downgraded to state highway 3053.
