The federal road 482 (abbreviation: B 482 ) is a particularly important federal road in the southern section, which together with the parallel federal road 61 represents a connection from the A 2 at Porta Westfalica in the direction of Nienburg / Weser .

Heavy trucks in particular therefore use this route from the A 2 to the Weser bridge on Landesstrasse 770 near Petershagen , where they usually switch to the Bundesstrasse 61 . About five kilometers north of Porta Westfalica, the road crosses the federal highway 65 near Meißen .

After there had been a high number of serious traffic accidents on the federal highway 482 in the past, many areas were designed to have two lanes in one direction at the expense of the once wide shoulder. Several radar controls , no overtaking bans and speed limits, as well as the reference to the use of daytime running lights / dipped headlights complete the plan for increased traffic safety. Intersections were largely avoided or converted into access and exit systems.

To the north of state road 770, the old image of federal road 482 is still preserved, with wide margins, dangerous overtaking opportunities in slight curves and traffic lights.

At the intersection of Landesstrasse 770 and Bundesstrasse 482 near Petershagen- Lahde is the Heyden coal-fired power station with ship access to the Weser , which is easy to use as you can see it on the horizon from Porta Westfalica .
