The list of towns in New Zealand includes all geographic locations in New Zealand , by Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) as a metropolis ( metropolis ), city ( town ) or inhabited place ( populated place classified).
Alphabetical overview
The locations are listed in alphabetical order. Cities in the legal sense ( city ) are highlighted in bold, whereby the metropolis Auckland originally consisted of several such cities and suburbs ( suburb / urban satellite ), but since November 2010 all previous cities in the Auckland region have lost their independence through amalgamation and under the administration of the Auckland Council are summarized.
In addition to cities, towns and suburbs, the Public Service Department Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) also records farms ( farm / homestead ), locality , Pā . These geographic objects are not included in this list.
