  • The national highway 533 (abbreviation: B 533 ) is a German federal highway in Bavaria .

    course

The federal highway 533 leads from the motorway junction (111) Hengersberg on the A 3 to Freyung to the B 12 . It lies entirely in Lower Bavaria and crosses the districts of Deggendorf and Freyung-Grafenau . She's on a short stretch of the bypass Schoenberg with the national highway 85 identical. Overall, the B 533 is significant in regional traffic, as it serves as a motorway feeder to the north and towards Munich. There is a connection to the B 85 and B 12 along the way .

    history

The B 533 was set up in the early / mid-1980s to improve the network of federal roads in the Bavarian Forest .

    expansion

From the intersection of the B 85 and B 533 near Schönberg to shortly before Grafenau, this route has been expanded to three lanes since September 2007.

A 7.1 km long bypass road is to be built between Auerbach and Hengersberg, which is classified as an urgent requirement in the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan.

Since April 28, 2008, construction has been carried out on the Schwarzach bypass near Hengersberg as well as on the section leading up to the Auerbach local border. This 5.2 km long section was opened on July 24, 2012. The costs for this construction project rose in the course of the construction phase from 16.7 million euros to 26.6 million euros (as of July 2012). The traffic forecasts assume that in 2015 7,700 vehicles will take the route via the bypass. 3,300 vehicles are to continue to run through the town. In 2010, an average of 5,200 vehicles drove through the town every day .

Following the completion of the Hengersberg bypass, the Auerbach bypass should enter the approval phase by 2014.

A 6.3 km long bypass road is also to be built between Grafenau-Lichteneck and Hohenau, but this is only classified as an additional requirement . In June 2008, the so-called Lichtenecker curve was expanded on this route so that it can be driven more easily by trucks.
