McCoy

McCoy was a British car brand.

Brand history

Arthur Birchall, who previously at Lotus Cars and communities engine worked, in 1984 founded the company Birchall Automotive in Barnham Broom in the county of Norfolk . He started producing automobiles and kits . The brand name was McCoy . From 1988 to 1990 NG Wynes Fiberglass (McCoy Cars) of North Tuddenham in Norfolk continued production. The last manufacturer from 1990 was Neville Wynes Fiberglass Products (McCoy Cars) in Fakenham in Norfolk. Production ended in 2001. A total of about 117 copies were made.

The first and best-selling model did not have a separate model name. It was similar to the Clan Crusader and was a coupe . Brian Luff from Status Car Company developed the chassis . A fiberglass body was mounted on top. Usually a four-cylinder engine from the Mini powered the vehicles. Alternatively, the engine from the Mini Metro could also be used. The crash test at a Scottish university was unusual for a kit car . Around 100 of this model were made between 1984 and 2001.

The model McIvoy corresponded technically the first model, but had a four-seat body in the form of a combination coupe and station wagon . This model found five buyers between 1986 and 1998.

In addition, around twelve replicas of the Triumph TR 2 , Triumph TR 3 and Triumph TR 3 A were made between 1988 and 1998. A steel chassis formed the basis. Many parts came from the Ford Cortina and Ford Sierra .
