Hildesheim district
The Hildesheim district emerged from the former bishopric and later Prussian Principality of Hildesheim, without the northeastern part, which had come to the Braunschweig district, and the southeastern part, which was found in the Goslar district. The district of Hunnesrück, somewhat remote to the southwest, came to the Leine department, to the Einbeck district, together with some other south and western places of the larger contiguous part of the principality, including some Brunswick and Hanover places completely enclosed by Hildesheim.
The Hildesheim district is bounded in the north by Hanover, to the east by the Braunschweig district, to the south along a line from the place Ölper to the river Innerste near the place Rehna, from there to the area of the place Werder, along the mountains Steimberg and Oheberg to the Waldersen village, now to the border of the Lamspringe office to the Leine, the border of the department. In the west, the district bordered the Hanoverian countries along the Leine.

Department of the Leine
The Einbeck district comprised the part of the so-called landscape of the previous Hanoverian principality of Grubenhagen. Other parts of the principality belonged to the Göttingen district, or to the Osterode district in the Harz department, together with parts of the Göttingen principality. Also included in the Einbeck district, the part of the former Principality of Wolfenbüttel located between Leine and Weser, excluding the places on the left bank of the Weser, which in turn came to the Höxter district in the Fuldadepartement. In addition, parts of the Ottenstein office, without the villages that have come to the Hildesheim and Goslar districts in the Oker department. The Hanoverian Relliehausen including the Hunnesrück office and a few other places on the southern and western tip of the main region of Hildesheim and the previously Corveyian town of Lüchtringen, on the right of the Weser , are located between the so far Brunswick and Hildesheim countries .
The Einbeck district borders on the Göttingen district to the south, the Weser to the west, the Callenberg and Hildesheim districts in the Oker department to the north and the Osterode district in the Harz department to the east.
