On Friday, November 27, 2009, the President of the Bavarian State Parliament, Ms. Barbara Stamm , honored 48 people with the Bavarian Constitutional Medal for the 49th time. The keynote speaker was Edda Huther , the former President of the Bavarian Constitutional Court in Munich. She gave a lecture on the subject of “Federalism 20 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall and reunification”. The laudation for the recipients (13 personalities received the constitutional medal in gold, 35 in silver) was given by Berndt Jäger , Deputy Director of the Bavarian State Parliament. The gold constitutional medal was awarded to:

2012

In 2012, the Bavarian State Parliament honored a total of 48 personalities with the award of the Bavarian Constitutional Medal. On Monday, December 16, 2013, the medals for 2013 were ceremoniously awarded in the Senate Hall of the Maximilianeum. Former President of the Federal Constitutional Court, Hans-Jürgen Papier , gave the keynote address on the situation and importance of parliaments . 2016, the 70th year of the Bavarian Constitution, marked the 56th anniversary of the award of the Constitutional Medal on December 9, 2016. Three people were awarded the Constitutional Medal in gold and 36 people were awarded the Constitutional Medal in silver. In 2016, only long-serving politicians were considered for the gold awards, and 33% of the honorees were also party members and thus significantly over-represented compared to the population average (approx. 1.5%). 2017

On December 1, 2017, the President of the State Parliament, Barbara Stamm, presented five people with the Constitutional Medal in gold and 45 people with the Constitutional Medal in silver. The keynote address was given by Jutta Speidel on the subject of “Living the common good and sustainable commitment in Bavaria”.

The gold constitutional medal was awarded to:

  • Birgit Seelbinder, former mayor of Marktredwitz, for her commitment to German-Czech friendship, the interests of local self-government and educational policy
