The list of earthquakes of the 21st century is a compilation of all previous relevant earthquakes since 2001 with information on the epicenter , the focus depth , the strength and intensity of earthquakes , plus the number of earthquakes caused by the earthquake itself or its accompanying phenomena such as tsunami , landslide , soil liquefaction u. similar perished and missing persons.

Earthquakes that have at least one of the following characteristics are considered relevant for the list provided here:
