List of Austrian films
The list of Austrian cinema films is intended to provide a chronological and representative overview of Austrian filmmaking ( feature , documentary , animated and short films with theatrical release or premieres at a film festival, with the exception of short film festivals) since the invention of the sound film . Austrian films from the silent film era are included in the list of Austrian silent films , television films and programs can be found in the list of Austrian television productions .
Indicators for a representative cinema film are: at least 10,000 visits to the cinema in Austria (or in another country), important directors and important actors in leading roles, international festival successes or awards at important Austrian film festivals such as Viennale and Diagonale as well as the Austrian Film Prize and those particularly highlighted by film critics Productions. In the case of older films for which these criteria cannot be applied due to a lack of verifiability, the traditional significance (film stars of the time, cinema successes at that time, particularly popular films then or still today) and film historical significance (for example extraordinary for their time, possibly pioneering films) can be measured.
Austrian films with more than 75,000 visitors have been awarded the Austrian Ticket since 2008 .
