Gurley was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Tom W. Gurley sold and repaired bicycles for Columbia Automobile Company and Hartford for years . In 1899 he began producing automobiles in Meyersdale , Pennsylvania . The brand name was Gurley . Production ended in 1901. In total, only a few vehicles were built.

Gurley then founded an automobile dealership with a workshop together with his brother Oscar and was still successful in 1915.

Many parts were bought in. A tubular frame formed the basis. An open body made by the local carriage manufacturer Jerry J. Livengood was mounted on top. One source mentions the Trap and Runabout as superstructures, another a two-seater buggy . The engines came from Milne & Killam . There was a choice of gasoline engines and steam engines . Was steered with a steering lever.

The original price was initially 600 US dollars and last year 1000 dollars. Gurley stated in January 1900 that the manufacturing cost was $ 500.
