New England (vehicle brand)

New England was a US vehicle brand.

Brand history

Both the New England Electric Vehicle Company from Boston , Massachusetts and the New England Electric Vehicle Transportation Company from Camden , New Jersey belonged to the Electric Vehicle Company from Hartford , Connecticut . In all three plants motor vehicles were produced from 1899 , which were marketed as New England . At first the vehicles were only rented out. They were only available for purchase from May 1901. At the end of 1901 the brand name was given up and the two branches closed. A total of around 90 vehicles were built.

There was no connection with the New England Motor Carriage Company from Boston, which offered steam cars under the same brand name.

Passenger cars were built in Boston and Camden . This included a tricycle designed by Charles Barrows. Light commercial vehicles came from Hartford.
