List of castles and palaces in Thuringia
There is a large number of castles and palaces on the territory of the German state of Thuringia . These buildings, some of which can look back on 1000 years of history, were the scene of historical events, the workplaces of well-known personalities and are often still impressive buildings today. Ornamental and replicas that were never used as residential buildings or for defense are not listed .
