List of places in Austria that are in several municipalities

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Of the tens of thousands of places in Austria , several dozen are in more than one municipality .

In this list so all is a directory in the database GEONAM Austria , the official Austrian place names of the Swiss Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying  (BEV) mentioned - but only once verorteten - settlement names , in the Gazetteer of Statistics Austria (STAT) the official statistical standard work, mentioned several times: They represent a settlement , but their statistical data are kept separately.

Also included are places that are located in several localities of the same municipality and partly related localities and cadastral communities (i.e. pure administrative units) in several municipalities. In addition, locations sometimes have an address whose name belongs to the administrative structure of a neighboring municipality or locality , or belongs to a different location by post, so that there can be confusion about the postcode as to where the location belongs. The local areas according to the StVO can also deviate from the administrative structure, which is also annotated here in case of doubt. Also included are incorporations and re-municipalities and renaming and other historical cases, as well as individual buildings, insofar as they are recorded in the index and other sources as an independent location - some of these are only located in the state geographic information systems .

However, places with different names that have simply grown together are not entered, which often occurs in more densely populated areas ( double places, ingrown peripheral areas of larger places): Although they form a settlement unit (common settlement area), they are administratively separated in every respect (here, often the end-of-town sign of one place and the place-of-place sign of the other directly together), or, despite the municipality boundary, meanwhile simply form a location of the other place (named district in the true sense).

For the typology of the settlement see local code , cadastral community number and topographical settlement designation according to STAT .

The first mentioned is usually the part of the municipality located in Geonam, unless this part is in a different district.

  2. a b c The Geonam database is constantly updated. In some cases, coordinates for the locations listed here are also added.
  3. a b These are not the names marked with «2x» (or more) for settlement names in the alphabetical index section in the index of places (cf. 3.  On the alphabetical index in the preceding text / explanations): These are mostly different but identically named settlements within a parish. The term included here only includes those places that fall in two localities of the municipality and for this reason are named twice - and statistically broken down - within the municipality.
  4. According to the law, cadastral communities must lie entirely in a political municipality. However, there are cadastral communities with the same name or with I / II. The subdivision of the localities also always adheres to the municipal boundaries.
  5. Postcodes to the nearest post office, even if it is in a different municipality, are extremely common and have remained the same with the numerous post office closings in recent years. Only special cases are mentioned here that can really lead to ambiguity. Otherwise, the respective postcodes and places are always given for all locations.
