Schneider (family name)
Schneider is a common German family name. It arose not only from the job title of tailor , because cutting is also an activity in other professions, e.g. B. the Röder (from Roden ) or the Brettschneider, the North German Schröder or Schrader. The latter go back to the Low German schroden “ hauen ” or “cut, cut off, trim”; the northern German Schröder is thus a southern German tailor.
