The list of castles and palaces in Bavaria / Upper Palatinate administrative district is a directory of historical places such as castles , palaces , manors , fortresses , moths , castle stables and fortified churches on the territory of today's Upper Palatinate administrative district, divided into independent cities and districts. There are further lists for the administrative districts of Upper Bavaria , Lower Bavaria , Upper Franconia , Middle Franconia , Lower Franconia and Swabia . Ornamental and replicas that were never used as residential buildings or for defense are not listed .
