Euclid Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles from Connecticut .

Company history

The company was founded in West Haven in 1914 . Edward A. Scheu, who previously worked at Packard , ran it. Everett S. Cameron, known from Cameron , and his sales manager Frank S. Corlew were also involved. They began producing automobiles at part of the Cameron West Haven plant. The brand name was Euclid . In July 1914, Cameron left the company. As the year progressed, Scheu and Corlew fell out. In December 1914 the company was dissolved.

There was no connection to the Euclid Motor Car Company of the same name from Ohio or to the Berg Automobile Company , which used the same brand name.

vehicles

Only one model was on offer. Originally it was to be called Baby Grand , but this was changed to Grand Baby after an appeal by Chevrolet . The manufacturer said it was Cycle Light Car because it between the vehicle classes Cyclecar and small car ranked. A self-made four-cylinder engine with 1600 cm³ displacement and 15 HP power propelled the vehicles. Originally, water cooling was planned, but for reasons of cost the engines were air-cooled . The engine drove the rear axle via a two-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft . The chassis had a wheelbase of 254 cm and a track width of 102 cm . The curb weight was given as 352 kg. The open body offered space for two people. The original price was 445 US dollars .
